The Country Place is a great place to relax outdoors!
Warm days and evenings invite guests to enjoy our peaceful, natural setting and rest with ease in the tranquility it inspires.
The Blue Heron Pavilion offers one of the most scenic views on our property, overlooking the spring-fed pond and the mountainside. This area invites guests to relax and enjoy nature, conduct a yoga session breathing in the mountain fresh air, a workshop outdoors or an outdoor wedding ceremony with a splendid view of the countryside. The possibilities are endless!
We are happy to recommend a variety of local and on-site activities for your group!

Beginners to extreme adventure enthusiasts can find a trip that offers exactly the level of challenge and excitement they're looking for.
The Land
The white deer walks softly as the morning mist upon the meadow.
The Country Place Retreat and Conference Center, located in the foothills of the Pocono Mountains, has been a sacred place for hundreds of families and guests for over 150 years. Ancient legend has it that the area surrounding The Country Place - over 450 acres of woodlands and meadows - has been blessed by Native People.
In spring the land is covered with wild flowers, in summer bursting with bushes filled with ripe blueberries, in fall ablaze with multicolored trees and in winter, coated in a blanket of pure white.
Eight Circuit Renewal Labyrinth
Walking the winding path of a labyrinth for meditation, relaxation or just to get answers has become increasingly popular. This ancient ritual has many architectural possibilities today from concrete paths to stone paths to portable labyrinths.
A labyrinth is an ancient symbol of wholeness - a metaphor for life's journey. It combines the imagery of the circle and the spiral into a single purposeful path leading to a center.
The Renewal Labyrinth is built of all natural products from our property. The mulch is made from fallen trees on our property. The fieldstone path was designed using stone from our environment. Historically property owners made low walls of rock to identify property lines. It was stone from these markings that was used in the building of the labyrinth.
The Country Place invites guests to enjoy the quiet solitude of a labyrinth walk and reflect on the beauty of nature.
Team Challenge Course
Our Outdoor Adventure
A fun-filled and energizing way to learn how to work together. The course presents a series of mental challenges with some physical effort which require active participation of all team members. In the process of participation and debriefing, team members examine levels of trust, teamwork, communication and problem-solving ability.
Through the metaphors presented by the course elements, team members apply what they learn and carry it back to their everyday lives.
These courses are designed with an element of fun and have names such as, "Spider Web," "Alligator Pit", "Mohawk Walk," "Commitment Bridge," and "Trolley."
During this program you learn to:
Promote group interaction, cooperation and trust
Encourage a norm of group support
Identify group resources and leadership
Sharpen communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills
Create a sense of commitment and accountability
If you would like to enhance your team's ability to work at high performance and are looking for a new, creative and fun-filled way to learn together please contact us.
This half day to one-day program can be customized to meet your specific objectives and is conducted at The Country Place Retreat.
“I brought my staff to The Country Place because we work as both a community building team and an emergency response team. Thus, having a sense of trust and unity as a team is vital to our work over the year. Between wonderful food, the beautiful and quiet locale, and the expert work of the Challenge Course trainers, our staff bonded quickly and was better prepared to tackle the coming year. As my staff constantly reminds me, it was one of the high points of our year.”
